Someone called it a Subway date. LOL!
My work life and colleagues I met so far + the fun parts of making new friends!
Since I started working. I met a lot of new people from any age, youngest one 18 to the oldest aging at 70. I work afternoons for 10 hours each day but only 4 days a week!
Since I always wanted to adapt to the new country/environment I came to, I wanted to talk to everyone and ask about the culture and preferably improve my English.
I succeeded in finding new friends and talking to them about almost everything from as serious as politics and society to as fun as video games and movies.
Finally came across to a lot of similar feelings and interests towards several things and that made us get even closer until once we were talking about playing Fortnite since I just downloaded the game after buying my new laptop, and we planned to play it after we get home. I already told my friend that he had to carry me all the way because I did not know a single thing about Fortnite at the time LOL.
Apparently two of my other friends were planning to go to a Subway after work and they asked if I wanted to go with them. I accepted his offer and told my brother and my other friend about it and eventually went to Subway afterwards (5 people in total).
When we got there 2:20 in the morning and got out the car, this creepy man was standing at the door inside of his bakery shop adjoining the Subway store. At first no one saw him till one of my friend mentioned him. I thought it was a mannequin in the first sight until it felt too real for it.
We were chit chatting, gossiping, talking about the guy while enjoying our food for roughly an hour. After we left the Subway, my friend threw me his empty bottle of water and I threw it back to him and he kicked the bottle at a corner of the drive thru, the dude saw us and he thought we were littering and went absolutely nuts about it and asked us to pick it up while throwing some F words. I was not going to litter anyway (because I hate it) and would have picked the bottle even if the guy was not there but that was just such a creepy and scary experience from a guy who you could barely even see him in that early morning darkness.
Anyway we arrived home around 3:30 AM and played Fortnite for 4 hours straight.
I had not felt the joy of life in those spontaneous plans in a very long time especially with all those Covid things etc.
I suppose we are doing that every week now since we did the same thing the following week after our first Late Night Subway Date :)
Peace!
